Your article in the Jan. 8 paper, ("Medicare change a disaster for some") describing the terrifying discovery of many vulnerable seniors finding their necessary drugs to be no longer covered, is being repeated across the nation. In addition, pharmacies everywhere are swamped as they attempt to fill prescriptions for hundreds of thousands of Medicare beneficiaries who need prescriptions but have not yet received their new Part D cards.
Calls to insurance companies went unanswered, as their wait times went from minutes to more than an hour. And seniors calling 1-800-MEDICARE for assistance in finding a prescription drug plan were being advised to call at non-peak hours, such as 3 a.m., to gain access to a representative.
