Fraternity housing coming to campus

The East Mallard Creek Church Road area has been UNCC's unofficial Greek row with five fraternity houses, but that's changing as the university constructs a 13-house Greek Village.
The Greek Village is changing student life already, and life could change along Mallard Creek Church Road as fraternities sell their property so they can move onto campus.
UNCC has 24 sororities and fraternities. Some are academic organizations; most are social. Only eight currently have housing.
The on-campus Greek Village, which will cater to the social organizations, is scheduled to open Jan. 5, said Stephen Hunt, the assistant dean of students who oversees Greek life. Construction crews have started grading the site.
